(21st)Put the finishing touches on the bridge. A couple other crews spent the day signing. Signing, though it may seem a bit redundant, is quite necessary, not only for safety, but for those not familiar with the area, it helps get them where they are looking to go without getting lost or worse yet, somewhere where sledders aren't welcome. And of course to mention that it is also required.

( 3 / 425 )Another nice sunshiny day...a day like this, it's hard to want to do much trail work, especially when you know there is stuff at home you may rather be doing. But there are nastier days coming so we spent the day getting caught up on some more signing. There has been years that it has been snowing fearful and cold enough that you could barely get through the frozen surface and even at times having to use a sledge on the bar to get it through...this wasn't that type of day!

( 3 / 265 )We got some extra mowing done last weekend, some more culvert work done and even a short bridge re-decked and replaced some broken ones on another, which will probably need re-decking, itself, next year. On the horizon there were persistant snow squals hanging around...it makes you feel a little better about the work you put into this! Throughout the week we had made plans with a contractor to take care of a couple trouble spots for us...one was a bank with exposed gravel and another was a persistant wet spot that has been planned for fixing for a couple years or more, we have finally been able to get this taken care of. Then this weekend we got to get a bit more mowing done and got another good jump on getting some signing done. We had another spot that had an existing culvert that really wasn't set deep enough nor was it wide enough, so we re-set this spot with a wider one and set it like we wanted.

( 2.9 / 238 )Started a bit rainy this morning so we put some of the ground work on hold and made a day of getting some signing started. Ended up being relatively nice, but then again who says you can't sign in nice weather too.

( 2.9 / 275 )Another beautiful (mostly) sunshiny day...almost to good to work on trails! Then I think about the times that we have tried to work in a snow storm...it was a nice day to work! We were able to send a crew to take care of some more culvert work toward 205 and some working in another direction on mowing through some rather tall goldenrod and swamp grass heading into the park. Then we split up a couple more directions, some stayed mowing toward Mt Vision and a couple of us went to cut back a bit of trail that has been steadily growing inward for the past 7 years by Hyde Park, awful lot of hood scratchers.
