We had enough members present today to send a couple of crews off in different directions. We got some mowing done along the powerline, in one section (S71A). Along the stateland on a private landowner, there has been a kind of a double knolled bank, that when riding up or down over, one would have to hit it kind of kitty-cornered. While riding one up, didn't present a huge problem, riding 2-up was a different story. There seemed to be a lot of tracks down where the trail wasn't so we went in there and leveled the humps down some and filled the holes, I believe it transitions a lot more smoothly now (S71B). We got some light brushing done along a section of stateland trail, as well as doing a small re-route, taking out a sharp corner by a town road, making it safer and easier to get around, especially with the groomer (S71B). We were also able to do some signing and brushing on one of our non-funded club trails and help take care of some of the landowners concerns with some boundry markers (S71D).

We had our landowner appreciation breakfast at the American Legion this morning and got to meet with some of our landowners and share some of their concerns. Of all their concerns, the one that seems to come to the surface more than any other, is noise. What was once used as an extra performance measure, loud pipes have come to the end of their time. Please respect the landowners and leave the loud pipes home.
We were able to get more trail mowing and brushing done, a little more to the northern end of the trail today.

Beautiful sun-shiney day! Too nice for working on snowmobile trails!, but we did anyway. Again, continued where we left off the week before. A lot of cutting with the gas powered hand trimmers, a couple different areas where the briars consistantly overhang the trail and grab your nose, or at least your jacket, but mostly scratch the sled! A couple of tree tops, broken off 20-30ft in the air to clear. We cut out one stump that juts out, which should now make it easier to get the groomer around and improve visibility around the up-hill curve. ( We spent a couple of saw chains on this one!) Cleared out some trail trash, a sleeping bag and folding chair, just left behind from a small bon-fire.

We started brushing and signing the next section of trail where we left off last weekend. We changed a sharp-hard corner that cuts directly up-hill, as last year it was hard to get around with the groomer sled, even without the drag on it. This will make it a lot easier, even with the trail sleds. We run the brushog through the briars and knocked off some of the bigger dirt mounds, hopefully this will help keep the trail smoother, longer!

Because of a re-route in the corridor trail from another club, we had about three quarters of a mile of trail extension to re-join to the corridor trail. There's been a couple of years, due to lack of snow and landowner requests to re-route the trail, that this section hasn't seen enough brushing to keep the trail cut back to an 8-12' width, so visibility was poor and didn't leave much room for oncoming traffic to pass. We got a lot of it cut back with a trail mower and some on the sides with a brush trimmer. We relieved a couple of wet spots with a small backhoe and bucket and put a new ramp up to one of the bridges to keep from stuffing a ski underneath. We were almost finished, when it started to pour down rain, so we finished what we could, and got soaked!
