Workdate 28-Sept-08
Because of a re-route in the corridor trail from another club, we had about three quarters of a mile of trail extension to re-join to the corridor trail. There's been a couple of years, due to lack of snow and landowner requests to re-route the trail, that this section hasn't seen enough brushing to keep the trail cut back to an 8-12' width, so visibility was poor and didn't leave much room for oncoming traffic to pass. We got a lot of it cut back with a trail mower and some on the sides with a brush trimmer. We relieved a couple of wet spots with a small backhoe and bucket and put a new ramp up to one of the bridges to keep from stuffing a ski underneath. We were almost finished, when it started to pour down rain, so we finished what we could, and got soaked!

Workdays have started 14-Sept-08
Trail work is officially underway. We have started on S71F where the landowner likes to bow hunt, so we needed to be in and out before season comes. 3 members present
REMINDER: Every Sunday is usually a work day, we meet at the Milford town barn at 8:15-8:30, we always need extra help.

Also, we're approved for a rough-cut trail mower, this will help in the places that are a little tougher to get at with the bigger machines, but too much for the hand helds.

New Season Approaching
While most people are still thinking Summer, County Fairs are going on with dealers having sled displays, "THINK SNOW" season is upon us. We are in the midst of our yearly preperations and pre-season work. Our yearly grant applications and workshops are underway. Monthly meetings will be soon starting, trail work,(believe it or not) will be soon underway. I know things will be tight for most, I just hope that everyone will still be able to get out and enjoy their passion.

Look Back Soon!

Trail conditions for Trailwork
While pulling signs and inspecting trails in some known trouble spots, I've found some areas that will require some attention next fall. One in particular, the culverts we installed by the big suspension bridge are completely gone. It is evidenced that from the ramp to the bridge back to the other side of the culverts, was completely underwater. If anyone knows of any other conditions like this, please let me know.

Have a Happy Summer! (Summer Sucks!)

Another ride it, while we got it!
For the conditions we've had this year, I guess this past weekend is about as good as we're gonna' see it for this year. I saw a lot of sleds out, trying to enjoy what we had. All in all the trails were not that bad, offering a decent ride. Went out Sat. with chainsaw strapped on to clear some trees that had fallen before the snow. And just enjoyed the ride, myself (with the family of course) Sun. But, I guess it just can't last. Can only hope for another ride!

Think More Snow!
