WOW, it's only October, and we had not only one Nor'easter but two that were supposed to come through. And as I intermittently watched the radar, it's truely amazing to see the storms bare down on some of the areas south of us in Pennsylvania and then, just when you would expect to wake up to a coating of snow (not that we really need it yet), it's amazing to see it all blow apart just before it comes to us. We really ended up with two beautiful days. One of which we made some pretty good use of. We had enough help show up, that we were able to send crews off in 3 different directions. One crew set out with the mower and a saw. (You don't even see deer run through stuff like this) Briars so tall you had to stand up in the Rhino just to see where you were headed (and then to have to clear downfall in this stuff...and I forgot my gloves!). Another crew widened a section of trail that we haven't used before, by trimming back overhanging limbs, this will help keep us off the roadside. And yet another crew was able to mow a section on a powerline right-of-way and with permission from some landowners, install some culverts to get us through some perennial wet spots that have plagued us for several years.
Thanks to all that showed up and offered the use of their equipment. We also got the opportunity to check out access to our new local state park (Wilber & Betty Davis State Park) which has camping cabins and parking available for snowmobilers. With enough interest, this may stay open for the season.
9 members and 3 jr members 9:00-2:00 and the crew doing the culverts stayed out to close to 6:00
We also took the opportunity this morning to show our appreciation to our landowners by having breakfast on our club at our American Legion.
Look Back Soon!
Jim
