Another beautiful day for trailworking! Last winter we had a day that we spent trying to open a trail that had a lot of downfall...while it was snowing...in almost 15" of snow. We had to use sleds to get around, it took almost 7 hours to go 2 miles. So we thought... why not try to clear this a little better on a day when things will come a little easier. So, we gave it a shot. Now imagine this... it took almost 7 hours to go 2 miles! And I feel we still could have done better, at least on portions of it, but there is only so much time in a day, so we did what we could to make it rideable and make a definite improvement over what we started with. We did a lot of brushing, got some signs out and got a number of overhanging trees cut back. When we got to the bigger bridge on this section, we found where the water had been high enough to run around both ends of the bridge and took our signs down. In addition, there was a bunch of debris lodged in under the bridge we needed to clear as it was putting a lot of pressure on the bridge supports. We got this cleared, including a stump, and let the water and leaves run freely through.
